I am running winnt 4.0 sp6a. When I reboot the server, it goes through the post, loads the os, gets to the blue screen, then it resets and starts to boot again. It does this over and over, and will not get past the blue screen,
( where it has Microsoft NT version, build, single or multi processor and states the Service pack version. )
But, if I disconnect the power or cable to either drive, it will bootup. It does not matter which, I tried both, if one drive is disconnected it will boot.
The drives are mirrored. Once I have it up and running, I break the mirror, reboot.
Then remirror the drives, and of course reboot, which it does? I then can bring the server down a few more times. It works for a while. Then I have to go through the whole #$% thing again. The only reason for the rebooting, is frequent power outages, which powerchute shuts it down, and restarts with power restoration.
Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
-Shawn

Sorry I can't help Shawn. I am running WINNT 4.0 sp6.0 and I am having the same problem, except mine won't boot up when stopping the mirror connection. It boots, goes to blue screen and is loading os and then begins the re-boot sequence. I read something in the Microsoft knowledge base about a "memory dump" that might be part of the problem. Mine started when I downloaded all the latest virus patches and superdat files and executed them. The last patch I executed forced me to shut down when it was only about half completed.
I need help too! Thanks!
Brenda
