I have set up a new user in the NT domain with similar rights to other users. The new user cannot connect to a network printer; the error message is: "You do not have sufficient access to connect to the shared printer, since a driver needs to be installed locally". But other users can use the same printer from the same workstation. I cannot discover which component is causing the access problem.

1. Check his rights...
2. Install the printer under his profile

1. As far as I can tell, his rights are the same as the users who can successfully print. Which right should I double-check?

2. I *was* trying to install using his profile when the problem occurred.

I'm sure it is a user rights problem, but I can't see what's missing. As far as I recall, the printer was first set up by the adminstrator at the relevant workstation, and was then usable by other users - but not the new one. The right to install a driver shouldn't be needed (?) since the driver already exists.
