Hey group,

My company is discarding some old Windows NT Workstation software version 4 (about 10 copies) that was never installed.

They are also discarding Office97 standard Upgrade software along with Windows 95 upgrade.

Is there any resell value in any of these software? All are new and not open.

Is it possible to upgrade to Office 2007 Standard and use the Office97 Upgrade disk as a legal qualifier?

Should I try to sell them on ebay, if so for how much or should I just throw them in our dumpster?

Thanx

I would say throw it in the dumpster. The only value in that stuff is antique value; and it's not rare enough to be worth much.

There are indeed places which do deal in old software. I recently bought a copy of Win NT 3.51 from such a place.

Even more interesting, is that there are indeed people who are keen to get their hands on it.

Try googling for "Windows NT 3.51" or any equally old software to see if one might find second-hand software dealers.

It's worth what someone will pay for it. To find out how much that is, search ebay and 'include completed auctions'.

NT4 may sell; but I'd be inclined to encourge the firm to donate it to a worthy charity that might use it - be it within your own country/area - or overseas charitable orgs...

I'd certainly be very disinclined to simply throw them away (put in the dumpster...); "someone" out there (Scully) may well appreciate them. An ad in your local paper etc. might well bring forth possible beneficiaries of your firm's charity?

The upgrade software likewise - but to use it the other party will require either a qualifying full version CD, or a full version fully working installation of that software.

And so far I as understand it... you cannot use an upgrade CD as a qualifier for another upgrade. As mooted above one requires either a full version CD, or a working ull installation to be present for any upgrade to work.
