Using an IBM Netvista A20. All off a sudden now when I try to login (just after I have entered my password)- it just sits there and does nothing. no errors on bootup. happens when I try to login under any profile including the local administrator login without the network cable attached. no other devices attached to it. Mouse does move on the blank background - no hard disk activity.

If it was once part of a network it is probably configured to log on to a novell or MS network and without the connection it cannot be authenticated. You might have to plug it back into the original network and change the network settings. Aloha
