Please can someone help?

I installed a modem on an NT workstation and not I get the following in the Event Viewer after an initial error popping up and telling me to check it!

1. The computer browser service depends on the following non existent service
LanmanServer.

2. The computer browser depends on the server which failed to start because of the following error : Not enough service storage is available to process command.

3. The server service terminated with the following error : Not enough service storage is available to process command.

Any ideas, please ?

I am running NT Workstation 4.0 Service Pack 5.

I have been told to avoid service pack 6 at all costs?

Would re-installing Service pack 5 sort out the problem?

If you receive the subject or similar message, you may have a non-zero PagedPoolSize entry in the registry. Edit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Set PagedPoolSize to 0.

Reboot.

Another possible cause of this error is if you installed SP3 before installing any networking components. If this is the case, re-apply SP3 or higher (and any hotfixes).

Make sure you download the 128 bit version if you are in the USA

No matter what version of the Service Pack you have all you have to do is just reinstall it sp4 , sp5 etc, after installing nt and adding the Service Pack you used the NT CD later on to install additional network services or protocols ..the file versions conflict. if you ever use the nt cd to install any additional software ..especially networking just reinstall sp. no need for editing the registry or having to deal with sp6
