Windows NT Workstation 4 - display problems

I'm having problems with my video card under Workstation 4.0, Service Pack 4. My card uses the Intel740 chipset, with 8MB of memory, and is called an Apollo 7400. NT boots with a black screen after the drivers I received with the video card are installed, and if I reboot into VGA mode and try to do anything, NT does a physical dump (blue screen). I can run in 16 colours, 800x600 (using the default drivers), but I would like to run in 256 or above. I've been trying to get some standard 256 drivers, but haven't had any luck. If anyone could help me, I'd be very thankful.

I have had similar issues with NT and video display. I know of one way to fix it. Basically once you have installed your third party drivers and you have rebooted into nt and the display propertied window pops up and says that a new grapgics driver has been installed, select 16 colors for your display. Select Ok and then once back at the desktop. REAPPLY the SERVICE PACK. This is the key to getting your graphics to work. Usually this is seen on with Service Pack 3 but I have had similar issues with SP4. So try it out, after you have applied the service pack, reboot. When you come back into NT you should be able to go to the display properties and change your adapter up to your desired setting. Hope this helps.
