Recently a profile folder on my system became corrupt (or infected). The files in the folder contain ASCII and illegal characters as extensions and as filenames and extremely large files sizes, ie 2 GIGs and up. The dates on the files are also screwed up ie 2038, 2095, 1918 and so forth. The total folder size according to Windows NT is 179GB, when I only have a 16GB HDD. The files cannot be renamed, edited, or deleted under NT or DOS; the file does not exist according to the messages received when attempting a delete. When you copy the folder HOWEVER, it still says the source files don't exist but once you click ok on the message and you check the destination folder, you see that indeed the files where coppied. Yet again, no chance of deleting them. Norton 2002 hasn't found a virus, and formatting is not an option. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks !!
