Hi,

Please look at my server configuration.

Hardware : IBM branded PIII - dual cpu, 1gb ram, 63gb hdd, fdd, cd-rom, raid controller.

OS/Software : WinNT 4, Sp6, IE5, Norton Anti Virus 4.1.0.6

DBMS/ Application : Oracle 8 database, Oracle Financials ERP

When we want to shutdown the WinNT server, before that we shutting down the oracle database as well as stop other all oracle services (Oracle DBMS & ERP).

Then we try either shutdown or restart the server, in these cases it takes 20 to 30 minutes to shutdown. But at that point of time both the CPU indicators are showing that the CPUs are busy. By pressing numlock/capslock keys it is showing that server is not hanged. But earlier it takes less than 5 minutes to shutdown the server.

So please help me in this cases what are the parameters to be checked in this server.

Regards

Suresh

Try to recall when the problem started and what configuration changes you had made prior to that. Try to revert the changes. Try stopping Norton antivirus auto protect before shutting down.
