I am having a problem installing NT server edition, I can install workstation fine but when i try installing server as a clean install i get the message "You failed to specify the MS-DOS partition for the temp setup files for NT, Setup can not continue" Yet i was never prompted for that screen like in the workstation? I don't know what is going on? I tried starting the installation of workstation getting the the partitioning screen creating a 2 gig partition and exiting then starting the server installation and that didn't work let me know if you have any ideas??

at the command promopt of the fresh system go x:\winntsvr\i386\winnt /?
this will give you the options I think its the /t command you will need to tell NT where to put the setup files

The command to interrogate for switches would be:

x:\i386\winnt /? (where x = location of i386)

How are you installing NTSvr - from the 3 floppies, or a CD boot or via copying the i386 to the C: system area and installing from there (C:\i386\winnt /b /x /s:c:\i386)?

You could create a smallish (around 250Meg) FAT16 system area, make it bootable, and copy the i3986 over; then install using the command just above... This usually resolves most set-up issues...

is a useful M$ item to know about too...
