Subject: Windows NT Machines wont ShutDown
OS: Windows NT4 SP6
CPU/Ram: 2.4ghz - 512mb
Model/Manufacturer: Dell Optiplex
Comment:

We are having some trouble with around 7 machines running NT4 that will not shut down. When we click Start - Shut Down - Shutdown, the machines reboot instead of Shutting down....

Any ideas?

Regards

Did they ever autoshutdown?

Sounds like these pcs are not acpi compliant which means you should go to a "safe to shutdown windows" screen. Someone then did a reg hack to enable autoshutdown which then results in rebooting instead of turning off the machine because... we are back at not acpi compliant.

Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.
