Comment:

I installed Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and get an error message in Event Viewer regarding i8042prt.sys. The message reads:
"The operation on Device Keyboard Port0 timed out(time out is configurable via the Registry."
Another message reads:
"Could not set the keyboard lights"
Despite all of these error messages, the keyboard, which uses a serial port, does work. How should I go about fixing this problem. Do I just need a new or another keyboard or is there a problem with a driver loading.
I look forward to any suggestions.

David

This does sound like a weird and whacky NT error!

Have you tried re-applying your service pack? I suggest service Pack 6 it is available on the Microsoft site.

Re-applying service packs will normally correct many silly errors.

Good Luck
