In my Event Viewer, there are four Windows File Protection events that state "File replacement was attempted on the protected system file c:\winnt\system32\ksclockf.ax. This file was restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file version of the system file is 5.0.2165.1."

Then three more for "ksvpintf.ax", "ksinterf.ax", and "ksdata.ax".

How much should I worry about this?

A search with google seems to show that these files relate to a Sound Card. Have you recently installed one? I would search for up-to-date drivers and make sure that they are for Win2000 and not NT4/98/ME.

Ahh. That makes sense. Thanks. Should help getting my microphone to work too.

I've got onboard sound and I'm trying to use the drivers that came on the CD that came with the mobo. Updated drivers should work fine.

Same problem with me if using Windows 2000.

The Windows File Protection warnings
are on the exact same files as above always
when I installed DirectX 8.1 or later. :(
