Comment:

I have just installed Win-NT 4.0 as primary domain controller. The only user is Administrator. I have 5 computers running windows 98SE. I have one 16 port autosensing
switch 10/100. Using Star Topology.Windows NT has TCP/IP installed only as communication protocol,so does my windows 98SE clients. How do I register win98 machines on win nt server. I hear I can't. Win98 Machines tends to work in Workgroup enviroment and can't be register on WinNT Domain. How do I log on to win nt server machine as a administrator from win 98 using TCP/IP. How do I set up TCP/IP between Win 98 machine and WIN NT?

Secondly, I want to connect WinNT Machine on internet either Traditional Dial-Up or Dedicated ISDN 128. Working with Traditional Dial-up How do I gain access over the internet from my Windows 98 clients connected in a small LAN. Working with ISDN I believe I will have one Static IP address assigned by ISP provide To some kind of router which I will have to connect to My switch and so and so forth don't exactly know how it is going to configure.

I am newbie so any help will be helpful......
Any website on issues that I mesntion.

Best Regards,
J Crew.

OK, let's addres one question at a time.

98 (and 95) machines don't technically join a domain. They just attach to it. To make your systems attach and log onto the domain...

Start> Settings> Control Panel> Network

Make sure you've got "Client for Microsoft Networks" installed. Then highlight it and hit the "Properties" button.
Check the "Log on to Windows NT domain" box, and enter the domain name in the space provided. Hit OK, OK, and reboot. When the system comes up, log on as administrator. You should have full admin access to your server.

That's part one. Come back when you've got that all sorted and post again.

Cheers!
Chase
