Hi On an NT4 Server with a HP Laserjet 4 plus printer connected to the local port LPT1 when I try and print I get a message " Error writing to LPT1 for document....... The network path was not found. Do you wish to retry or cancel the job" The network had been hit by the bugbear virus a short time ago but it is not infected now. I have tried removing the printer and reinstalling it with the latest drivers from the HP website but it did not make any difference. Any Ideas. Thanks Glenn

If this is the only printer installed on the system try the following.
1. Uninstall the printer via Settings->Printers
2. stop the 'Spooler' service
3. Delete the contents of \winnt\system32\spool
4. re-start the spooler sevice
5. Re-install the printer.

If that doesn't clear it can you install the printer using the same cable on another PC? If there's a problem then it could be the cable or the printer itself.
