win NT to 98

I have a e-machine w/ NT 4.0 workstation on it; I would like to put 98 on in but I'm not sure on the process to do it. I have a 98 cd and an me cd. Help!

if you want to replace NT with 98, then I'd get a '98 boot disk (www.bootdisk.com), boot from the floppy to dos, fdisk and format the HD, then install '98.....it's been my experience that upgrades do not bode well in the long run.

My advice is don't. If you want to upgrade from NT4, do so to 2000 or XP.

I'm sure this is an issue of money so therefore, go with installing Windows 98. However, Windows 98 only supports FAT16 from Windows NT. If Windows NT is NTFS, then you cannot upgrade. Suggestion though, run a clean install of Windows 2000 Pro or XP Pro. My reasoning is due to the fact you sometimes have errors with windows and programs after upgrading. It is very easy to install either. Verify that BIOS is set to boot from CD-ROM first. After installation, don't forget to run Windows Updates.
