hi everyone,
i am at the end of my wisdom.
currently running a system on win95. trying to install win nt4 as a dual-boot system. load the cd and all necessary files are being copied to the hdd and then i am asked to restart the computer. after start up the os selection appears, i choose nt4 then follwoing message appears:
file setupdd.sys could not be laoded. the error code is 4
after booting into win95, i am able to locate that very same file on the hdd.
is there anybody with a suggestion? it would be mostly appreciated.

you're running a dos16 partition, right? if NT is looking for a NTFS partition... or if somehow you copied the files to a fat32 part... or if you moved your NT directory... when you reboot the first time, NT always converts the fat16 part. to NTFS and then reboots again.

I have not seen that before. What kind of file system do you have for your win95 installation? (FAT16 or FAT32) ... It may be trying to read data from the FAT32 partition. The only time NT can read FAT32 is accross the wire .... on the local computer it can only read FAT16 or NTFS. Also, I must disagree with Quantux ... The partition is converted to NTFS only if you specify that during NT installation.
