Subject: Win NT Service Pack 6A |
Comment: I tried to install Corel WordPerfect2002 on my NT Server and I got a message that it needed service pack 6 installed. Right now the system is Version 4.0(Build 1381:Service Pack 4) and I have never had any trouble with the machine. I looked at the NT Windows site and I can order the CD for SP 6A but I don't know how to determine if I need the high incription version or not. I don't believe I do but I don't want to screw up a good system with the wrong SP. Other than installing SP6 is there any other way to get WordPerfect up and running on this machine? Thank you.

Reply: (edit)Neil: You do want the 128 high encryption version of SP 6A. After loading the CD, go back to M$ and download the "pre-service pack 7" for NT. This patch will be the very last update for NT. PS: Service pack 6a is a two CD set. If you have any trouble getting sp6a or downloading sp 7, email me and I can send you all three on CD's. Dick

Reply: (edit)Thanks, Dick but I don't think I need the 128 high encryption, but is there a way to find out if the system is already "high encryption"? I am only trying to use the service pack 6A to get Word Perfect loaded and I don't want to order the wrong disks.

Reply: (edit)Missing something here---the 128bit encryption is only in Internet Explorer and whatever mail program you use, not the operating system. Service Pack 6A includes the high encryption version of IE 5.0. You can open IE and in the help menu find out if your's is the high encryption version. If you upgrade to IE 6.0, you get 128bit if you like it or not!
