Hi all,
We have swapped windows NT Hard disk to another dell machine. after i add com 3, Event viewer showing that "while validating that com3 was really a serial port, the contents of the divisor latch register was identical to the interrupt enable and the receive registers. The device is assumed not to be a serial port and will be deleted". Com1 and com2 working fine. if i change io address or IRQ for com 3 , Event viewer showing "User configuration data for parameter COM1 overriding firmware configuration data" or "The Control registers for COM3 overlaps with the COM1 control registers". So, please give me a solution to add com3 successfully in windows
NT Hard disk ASAP.Thanks

may be of some help...?
Swapping an NT installed drive to another MoBo can often work OK (I have done it more than once.. successfully - without any need to tweak etc.); but it may not always work properly. If the latter then perhaps a repair install may help...?

hi,
thanks, for ur info.
Actually com 3 is the external com card but its driver was not installed on the swapped hard disk. thats why it can't identify the port. After installed the driver, harddisk can able to identify the com port 3.Sumathi
