When prompted to login, after Ctrl + Alt + Del, as administrator, I enter my password. I see a blank screen, something seems to be loading, and then I come back to the Ctrl + Alt + Del prompt.

I can login as another user, however I cannot login as administrator.

The only things that were done differently include:
1. Assigning all groups under the Administrator group.
2. Assigning full permissions to Everyone, Users and Administrator groups to all folders and subdirectories in the
C drive. Guest has no access.

Please help, how can I relogin as Administrator without having to reformat my drive?

My suggestion for when you do get back in as administrator is to make a backup account - I call mine supervisor and this user is equivalent to administrator so that if for some reason I can't get in as administrator, I can log on as supervisor instead.

As for why you can't log in as administrator, are you logging onto a server or a workstation because you mention other users can login and on a server by default only the administrator can log on locally ?

Is this machine in a domain? Are there logon scripts running on the Administrator account (eg, one that logs it off)? Has your user account got administrative access?

You appear to have two separate problems:

a) An apparent misuse of priviliges and

b) Quite possibly a corrupt Administrator account/profile.

cleo's suggestion of creating a secondary admin account is an excellent idea. Another suggestion would be to redefine the number of users in the administrative group.
