Comment:
I have a HP laserjet 2100 tn on a win 2000 advanced server. i'm trying to connect to it with a win nt 4 machine. All of the win 98 machines are fine, but nt 4 wants drivers. pointing the machine to the driver cd, or the downloaded ones, just complains of "printer driver is unknown". help!!!!!

install the printer drivers on NT as if the printer was connected to it. leave the drivers in place.
through network neighborhood map the printer from 2K box and the drivers should install from there.
remove local printer. The problem with mapping is that sometimes the printer maps, sometimes not. I had problems with my HP4L was constantly dropping as I had it parallel to a pc on a network.
I just hooked up the cat5 to the print server that was installed and assigned an IP and it's worked since.
