I've just installed w32time on my PDC in an attempt to fix the Win2K on NT network time sync problem. Anyway the service won't start. I get the generic 2140 Error message and I get event 46 in the app log. The account for the service has log on as a service privelige. Help!

I don't know how w32time is exactly working, but it must be a problem with the rights to access other PCs across the LAN.
If w32time runs as service, make sure, that it is NOT running with the system account (this is the default).
The service should run in the account context of a domain admin.Control Panel
in services click
login as - this account
domainname\administratorOtherwise you could write a logon script with
net time \\timeserver /set /yes
so that everytime a user logs on, the time on this PC will be synch'ed with the timeserver

W32time runs fine in a domain with System Account. That is one of the advantages of using w32time over other apps/methods. Check out MS knowledge base. They have about 5 docs on running w32time with NT and W2K. Very helpful becuase the service needs some tweaking to get it to work right for both OS's.
Search in the W2k forum I am pretty sure I had posted the Q article numbers in a response there before.
good luck
Perry
