VNC taking up CPU

Is there a replacement to the remote access program called VNC. Its taking alot of my cpu power. It would have to work on an WinNT4 Server. Its for LAN use only. Maybe I could change some of the parameters to gain speed?

As far as I know, there isn't another FREE remote access program like VNC. PCanywhere and RAdmin are a couple of other$. RAdmin seems to run faster and has a smaller memory foot print. Micro$oft's Terminal $erver is another option.
I wonder at the CPU usage problem you are having with VNC. I have the server running on another NT box and an XP box, my CPU utilization (on a P 200 Pro, 256K L2 cache - 64MB) maxs out at about 25%. On an AMD K6-2-450 (512K mobo L2 cache - 128MB)utilization maxs at about 28%. Memory utilization is 4.5MB and 5.4MB respectively. This is over a 10 Mhz ethernet LAN. Neither box is slowed appreciably. Mind you, I'm not running 100's of users and applications either.

I am concerned that your resources are so consumed by vnc, I use that extensivly and have very little problems with it. Maybe remove and reinstall ?

fritz,
If that was for me, the % CPU utilization I quoted was while I was moving my mouse around. It was to generate CPU usage. Normally, when VNC is just sitting there, CPU use is 1-4%. Mathieu never said what his resource usage was, nor what he was doing that generated the usage. I was giving him a comparison. Love VNC, saves monitor costs and desk area.
