Question for Network Admins. I like to install as little as possible on my servers. Is it common practice to put Virus Protection on application or file servers? I keep up to date dat files on all workstations and on Exchange Server. How smart is it to leave the other servers unprotected in hopes of sparing conflict and stability problems? The servers are NT 4.0 and run Sybase Adaptive Server Anywhere.
thanks!

Hi,

If the fileservers only store user data, it is really recommended to install antivirus software on those servers... second on a Exchange server you must only install antivirus software for Exchange and NOT for standerd server software, because this will interrupt with the server, any database servers are not neccesary if you don,t have the money but than again if there are writeable shares on these servers i reccomend installing antivirus software as well...

greetings

Dawn
