I am doing training using NTBackup under NT server 4.0 Problem is I don't have a physical tape drive. Does anyone know of a virtual tape drive driver that will fool NTBackup into writing to a disk file/CD rather than tape? - Many Thanks

No problem! All you have to do is install your floppy as a "tape" drive...
- Go to Control Panel
- Now choose "Tape Devices"
- Select "Detect". Your system should detect your floppy drive, and ask if you want to install the drive.
- After rebooting, you will have a floppy tape drive that you can use to play with NTBackup.
Now, all this said, why the heck are you bothering with training for NTBackup? I would STRONGLY encourage you (unless you are just playing around for your own knowledge) to use something like BackupExec, ArcServe, etc. These packages are far more robust, and provide much greater reliability than scripting NTBackup via the AT queue. Also, remember that NTBackup has gone away in W2K, so you won't be carrying this NTBackup knowledge forward with you.
Good Luck!
