Very slow running pc's

We have recently had 3 PC's networked. The main one is running windows NT4 workstation and the other 2 are running windows 95. The 2 machines running windows 95 are now incredibly slow (they cant even keep up with typing) and one of them wont shut down. I have been told that unfortunately this is what happens when computers are networked. Could someone please clarify that this is the case.

I don't think they would slow down over network. Depending on your network setup, it could slow down a bit (i.e. installing multiple protocols/ bad cables or >100meters / too many PC's on segment), but it sounds like you have a different problem. Maybe the PC's could use an upgrade?

try to install only the apps you actually need. upgrading the system means getting more files. does the pc works also slow on another segment?

Doesnt sound like network issues.
Clean out your temp folder. Clear out unnecessary Programs in your startup. Scandisk. Defrag entire disk. Since you only have 4 computers just use Netbeui as your protocal unless u need TCPIP for something else. Check the run folder in the registry for unnecessary programs.
