Check to see if the backup operators group have the specific right to logon as a service by checking under Policies, User Rights. It is the same with Replicators group.

That right is required, but also check the userid the service is starting with. Backup Exec requires an administrator logon, and you have to supply the password. If the install didn't set it up, you have to do it manually.

Start> Settings> Control Panel> Services. Find the backup exec service, and double-click it. Hit the "Startup" button, and manually enter the userid (or select it in the domain listing), and put in the password.

HTH,
Chase

Hi all,
tried both admin u/n&p/w and a backup account/group log in details in the install section. I have gone back with usrstat.exe and checked to see if BENT has hit the login list. Still no go. All seems to stop when trying to pickup the rights to controll the device. I am using the 128 bit sp, and i am thinking that BENT does not support it. Iwill try a ver8 BENT and see how we go. ps I have also posted on veritas news group and hav had no replies as yet.
thanks for the comments and Iwillbe interested in others.
regards Paul
