Hi ,

When I use Msinfo32.exe on 2K system to remotely get system Info of any NT system, I get a message

"The connection to NTSVR4 could not be established. Check to see that the network path name is correct, that you have sufficient permission to access Windows Management Instrumentation, and that the Windows Management Instrumentation service is started on the computer."

I guess this is because i don't have WMI service running on target system NTSRV4. But i don't want to install any thing on that system and get the system info.

I would appreciate any kind of suggestion to this problem.

Thanks and regards,
Kiran.

Assuming that you have admin rights to this remote NT 4.0 machine... copy
\\personixtx\c$\WINNT\system32\WINMSD.exe
copy it to your %systemfolder%\system32 folder. Rename it to something like WINMSDNT.exe. so it will not overwrite your other WINMSD file.

Now you should be able to get system information from NT machines as well. start/run/winmsdnt.exe ... go to file/select computer
