As far as I know NT 4 does not support USB. However, you may want to get service pack 5 and see if that has changed. I don't think it has though. You will probably need to wait for Windows 10000 for USB support.

You're right. I have SP5 and don't think NT4 will work with USB. I don't know why Microsoft didn't make a batch to solve that. See, we still need NT5(or 2000).

Windows NT4 does not support USB. You will have to install Windows 2000 if you need this functionality.

Those Microsoft monopolist set it up so that you will NEED to upgrade to Windows 2000 for USB support! What a scam! They'll never support USB in Windows NT.

I haave SP6a and that doesn't support it, either. I know that there are 3P devices, but I can't find any software options. If you can help me, please e-mail me.
Thanks in advance.

Try ionetworks.com, support/software area. They make a usb protocol stack for NT4 so you can use usb devices. You need, however, a driver for your peripheral that is for both 98 & 2k(prof/serv) in order to have a rat's ass of it working correctly.

I've got a USB keyobard in my NT4 server - it works fine. It even works well with no service packs installed (ie setup). The server are just normal p2 motherboards with an OEM of nt4.

I have checked out the ionetworks and ltitl sites and the ionetworks looks promising.
If I have any luck I will let you know.

I'm also interested in getting USB devices to run on Windows NT 4. Specifically USB WEb cams. I've looked at the Bluewater systems and ionnetworks. The bluewatersystems usb enabler does not include usb web cams. Any ideas?
