Windows NT doesn't support USB at ALL!!! you must use Win 98, ME, 2000, or XP if you want to use USB devices

True...but there are ways around it. DO a search on Google.com or something and look for a software walkaround for USB on NT...Ie "USB for Windows NT 4.0". Check out bsquare.com

I agree, a company has a utility called 'USB for NT', it costs $12, I think, but it does work.

Adding my two cents for what it's worth:

USB *can* work flawlessly under Windows NT 4.0.

I have used a third party USB driver and it did indeed work.

My suspicion:

Microsoft could have easily added USB support to Microsoft NT 4.0 with a Service Pack, but simply chose not to do so. Not only that, they could have added full Plug and Play support, support for the latest DirectX (you could patch around the HAL to allow DirectX components access to the SMI), and power management and AGP features.

However, if Microsoft gave NT 4.0 users support for USB, the latest DirectX, and full AGP, Plug and Play, and power management features, there would be far less incentive to buy the new product (Windows 2000).

Of course, this is just a very, VERY strong suspicion on my part. Even if this is true, I would not criticize Microsoft for doing it. It would make perfect sense.
