the latest updated mcafee vs can't pick up an MTX virus that has partially infected my system. it's only managed to embed the replication instructions into outlook. i'm wondering if there's a tool to purge my system of this virus or how i might go about removing this manually (found nothing under macros, obviously). please help! thanks! (i can't believe i was stupid enuff not to have caught the ".PIF" following the attachment filename)

I don't profess any expertise whatsoever on the subject of viruses (or is it viri?), but if you go to the following site and use the keyword "pif" in your Find utility, you'll see that there's a virus removal program called Movie.aif.pif Virus Cleaner
http://www.virushelp.org/download.html
This site:
http://www.pchell.com/virus/mtx.shtml
makes explicit reference to a number of MTX files. The removal executable is called fixMTX.exe
Further information can be found at:

Hope I've been of some assistance. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
