We currently have an NT 4.0 PDC box that is old and needs to be removed. I have created a BDC which was went through without any known issues (everything is working). I am hoping to get some advice from someone on the best upgrade method/procedure.
The BDC was created on a desktop pc so that it could be placed into a test network environment to promote it to PDC and upgrade to Win 2K AD. From there I was hoping that I could replicate it to a new server and take the current NT 4.0 PDC off-line and bring the new box into play. Is this the best route to take?

The recommended route is to install new SERVER hardware and bring it up as NT BDC. Then promote it to PDC. Then upgrade it to W2K after your careful planning of name space and dns. Since you like some fault tolerance in your system you install a 2nd W2K DC and have it also hold a copy of the Global Catalog.
