I had two folders on the route of the data drive on our server. Folder 'A' had approx 9gb of data in it in various sub folders that I have spent 6 months creating. Folder 'B' was a bit weird, it contained an exact copy of everything that was in Folder 'A'. Nobody knows (or will admit to knowing) where folder 'B' came from but I did notice a little while ago that whenever I changed anything in folder 'A' (creating a new file or sub folder etc) that this new item would also appear in folder 'B'. Today I was tidying up the server and deleted folder 'B'. To my surprise everything in folder 'A' was deleted along with folder 'B'. I know what you're thinking, I definately did NOT delete folder 'A'. What has happened? How has it happened? Can folder 'A' be recovered? We have turned our server off to prevent any data that may be able to be recovered from being overwritten. Any thoughts or advice (apart from never touching a computer again because I'm obviously a complete imbecile) would be greatly appreciated!

Did you delete folder b when at the server? If not its gone and your only option is data recovery.

My first though was folder redirection but I am beginning to think you did this from workstation and maybe folder b was a share of folder a which would explain why when you deleted b you really deleted a

backups?

Thanks for your assistance wanderer. We didn't have a back up and ended up using some recovery software like you suggested. It turned out that A and B were actually shared with each other! We did manage to get back the essential data we needed though. Thanks again for your help my friend.
