Hi,

I’ve got this problem. Sometime when I change the location of one of the computer in my office, I’m loosing the availability to connect to the server. It gives me the annoying “No domain controller was available to validate your password”… so frustrating !!!
We’ve got a PDC and the connection for the client is by a DHCP.

Here is what I tried but didn’t work :

- to physically put back the computer where it was

- specify a static IP address

- winipcfg : release all and then renew all

- reinstall the NIC

It does record itself to the DHCP because in the DHCP manager, I see the name of the computer assigned to an IP (its not an old connection, because I deleted it manually). It has to get it from somewhere !!! After everything I’ve tried, I tend to think that it has to do with the server

What would you recommend ?
Restart a service…. Which one ?
What is DHCP client in services because it is disabled and has never been enabled. If I try to enable it, I get an error : “Could not start the DHCP Client service on \\PDC. Error 2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred.” I don’t think that this service is the problem because there are computers that I changed location and no problems.

Thank you in advance for your support

Mathieu

I would think it's your cabling, or something else in your network infrastructure.
