Subject: Unable to bootup after patch update
OS: NT40
CPU/Ram: P3-500/128
Comment:

After updated with the security patches, I get the error "NTOSKRNL.EXE missing or corrupt" on bootup

How can I overwrite another copy of NTOSKRNL.EXE or BOOT.INI back to the directory if I don't have the ERD? Is there any way I can go to the command prompt?

If your boot partition is FAT16 you can use a Windows 98 boot floppy to gan access.

Thanks.
Unfortunately, it's NTFS. Is it a dead end?
