unable to add scsi adapter

I have a vmware virtual machine running a legacy system using windows nt4 sp6a. The system crashes once a week or so. vmware says there is an issue with their buslogic scsi adapter and that I should change my adapter to lsi. I follow the correct steps to add the driver for the lsi adapter. I go to control panel > scsi adapters, then click on drivers, then click on add. When I click on add, a box pops up for less than a second and appears to read "creating list," but then it goes away without giving me a chance to tell it what driver I want to install.
I need to add this driver to stop my system from crashing. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not a windows person, but I've searched google and microsoft and can't find anything. Is there another way to do add a scsi adapter driver in windows nt4? Is there a known bug out there?

Try Device manager > driver tab.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

NT has no device manager M2 :-)
Confirm the lsi driver is for NT. Sounds like you are crashing when trying to install. If you are running NT on the scsi drive there is no way you can change the driver on the fly. You would have to do a repair install choosing the lsi nt driver instead of the buslogic driver.
