I'm trying to install Windows 98 2nd Ed. over
windows NT Workstation 4.0 and I get a
message that I need to turn off NT before 98
can run setup. Can someone tell me how to
turn off NT or if I need to do something
else? Thank

If you're tryn to dual boot with into, do yourself a favor in the long run. Get rid of NT, install 98, then install NT. You'll have less problems that way.,

Do want to dual-boot or have '98 alone?
Your post reads a little as though you want '98 alone; if so...
Run Fdisk off '98 boot-disk, delete partitions (NT will show up as non-DOS if it's NTFS); reconfigure HD for two partitions at least - Primary for OS, Extended for data; then your data is secure from reformats/re-installs of OS etc in Primary partition...
Also run the " sys c: " command off the boot-disk; this replaces the NT boot-loader with DOS/'9x variety.
Then install '98 to C: Primary partition.
If NT = NTFS in Extended area, Fdisk will not delete it; use NT set-up routine\create/delete partitions option - logically delete partition; run Fdisk/format as above; also the " sys c: " routine. Then install '98 as suggested above with at least two partitions.
Any critical data you want to keep, store it somewhere safe (back-up or copy to another secure partition???)
If want dual-boot, post back for more info.

Im-s:
I am trying to boot with 98 alone. In
regards to backing up info. I have done so
with all of my program data files. What
about driver information? Should I copy that
to an external file also? One other thing,
does this procedure uninstall NT or will I
complete that after and are there any NT
files I SHOULD NOT get rid of? Thanks
