I need to ghost some Dell PCs from a shared server image , which i have done many times before. However actually getting a share to the server is a bit of a hit and miss affair at the moment. For example i will use a network boot disk , with a static IP address, and although the IP address is assigned to the PC i will get either error 53:The computer name could not be found , or error 55:The resource does not exist on the network , when it tries to connect to the share. But if i then turn off the PC and use the exact same disk later on in the day , it will work!! Within the protocol.ini file on the boot disk , is a free static ip address , WINS server, subnet mask, default gateway etc etc. The server i try to connect to is on the same subnet , but the WINS servers arent...but if the disk does connect to the share (every once in a while!) then it must work , so how can i get it to work all the time? kind regards ,Danny.. |
