hi
well, I've the following little problem and I hope someone could help me to resolve it without reinstall the operating sistem.
the OS (NT4.0) doesn't show me the logon windows so I'was not able to press Ctrl+Alt+Canc to put the user name and password and start to work.
I've copied the following files from another PC:
logon.scr
winlogon.exe
in the following directories: C:\winnt\system32
c:\winnt\system
c:\winnt.
But nothing changes.
Thanks to everyone could give me an idea about the way to resolve that.

Moin Antonio,
the following sites
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q114615&
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/13/
could be helpful.

dear Carl
I look the sites you suggest.
But when I said that the windows doesn't appear I want to say that the sistem remain stopped on the windows in which normally should appear the logon windows and doesn't allow me to do anythink.

Moin Antonio,
sorry, a misunderstanding, I thougt, your system starts with a certain user-account, without showing the logon-window, now I understand, it hangs immediately before the logon-window should appear. This seams to be a crashed system. If the options starting with last known working hardware configuration or booting in VGA-mode doesn't cause the system to boot completely, you will probably have to try a repair, if you have an ERD-floppy or a directory %systemroot%\repair, which is up to date. If you wanna have more detailled informations about WinNT-ERD, send me a mail, you'll get a RE with informative attachments about this subject.
mfG, Carl.
