Hi,

For the past two days, anytime I run my backup I receive this error message:
"Tape device reported an error on a request to eject the tape. Error reported: Hardware failure."
I realised the backup finished, but keeps on coming up with the above message.
I'm running a Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition, and using SureStore 40 with a DDS4 tape.

The server is a HP LH 3000.

I'm suspecting I may have to change the tape drive, but I want to know if anyone has any other ideas???

Thanks,

Willie

What backup software are you using? I use Veritas BackupExec 8.6 and have stopped using the 'eject tape at end of job' option because tapes didn't always seem to eject. All it means is that when I come in in the morning I have to manually eject the tapes ready to load the next ones.

If the tapes eject properly when you press the eject button it may be worth trying.

Hi Maurice,

Sorry for the delay in response. I'm using the Backup option in "Administrative Tools"
