Sometime ago someone posted an explanation and solution to this problem.
Upon start up my System32 Folder (on a laptop) opens and stays open.
Does any one know the reason and solution to this?
This happened after a user tried to install a Canon printer. She started gettign errors about the system could find some files Syssrvc.dll and ntutil.dll. Canon tech support had her go into the registry and delete the Canon stuff. She doesnt get the errors anymore, but the System32 folder still opens...

Kev: System32 folder opening upon startup is most likely the result of a blank or null entry in the registry. Check the following key in your registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. You should backup your registry before making any changes. See Microsoft articles Q170086, and Q242450.

I read your response to system32 folder opens. I have a similar problem, and yes I did at one time attempt to install a Cannon printer-wouldn't work, returned it. The message I get is "A required .DLL file, SYSSRVC.DLL, was not found.

Oh my! I'm glad to see I didn't screw up my computer. This is the second time I've installed my Canon printer. I got the exact same message. However, I got one DLL. file NTIUTL32.DLL not found. I went through online tech support which suggested I redownload the driver at their site. After that is when the second SYS...came up. Is there anything I can do?
