Hi,

Once of my users has a machine (a Compaq Deskpro EXSm) that after only a short time of use will freeze, the mouse becoming jumpy, only moving every couple of seconds. Applications then fail to open.

I tried re-installing (i.e. completely wiping the disks and starting from scratch) but at the point of installing ie6, the download froze and the mouse began behaving exactly as before. So I am convinced it must be a hardware problem, I am wondering if perhaps this could be due to a faulty NIC? Either that or memory problems. All that's changed recently is an upgrade of memory from 128 to 384MB.

The only way to resolve each time is the switch off at the wall (task manager will not start) and reboot. Then it will be fine again, perhaps for a couple of days, when it will happen again.

Any help, much appreciated!

Mark
