Synchronizing Domain Controllers

Comment:
If I have a BDC with a more recent SAM and add it to the Domain, will it update the PDC or will the PDC overwrite the BDC's information

You should promote your Backup Domain Controller to the Primary Domain Controller.
After that you can synchronize.
If it then happens that it's the BDC that has the preferred resources for use as your PDC, perform another promotion and demotion exchange.

I have a bigger question... How did the BDC get more current information? It must have been a PDC at one time. There are some issues with your suggestion, unless I'm missing something. You will want to have contact with the PDC in order to promote the BDC. So, if the current BDC has the most current info, it will be overwritten. You can promote the current BDC but you will not be able to demote the PDC until it detects two PDCs on the network. This is a situation you should try very hard to avoid. I think you are better off connecting the BDC and updating your records.

Yeah, sounds like the BDC is coming from a different domain, doesn't it?
