stop error 0xc0000135 (can't find dll)

Anyone have a clue on this blue screen hang? NT 4.0 boot process is complaining about missing winsrv.dll in the Default Load Path. Partition is fat 16 so I can Boot to Dos and re-copy winsrv.dll into winnt/system32 (and into winnt, AND into c:) but it doesn't help.

assuming you haven't yet, go to microsoft's knowledgebase online (support.microsoft.com) and search for that stop error code. this usually works for me.

go to microsoft.com and do a search on the stop error number on all of microsoft. This site generally provides the needed answer. They ought to know as were all adding to the solution database.
