In Windows NT when you startup it gives you a Dr.Watson error that says cannot attach to explorer.exe and when you close it the message keeps coming back and you cannot do anything. I searched for the explorer.exe file through DOS and it was there. But when you start up it says cannot connect to file explorer.exe. His CD-Rom quit so using the cd to fix it is not possible at the moment. Does anyone know what the problem is and is there a way to fix it. He does have a floppy drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does he have a i386 folder on his drive? If so you can start install [winnt /b] from there and choose repair. This will refresh the OS files but leave installed apps/data.

Otherwise you have to have the NT cd and a working cdrom drive to do exactly the same.
