Comment:

My computer was switched off by mistake whilst still running and connected to the net. I cannot get it to load windows beyond the 'scanning on boot C' now. I have tried all kinds of things, including re- installaing '95 but now the thing won't go into safe mode. A previous Scandisk said that there was no problems but the only thing I managed to find wad a message saying 'HIMEM.SYS' missing. Any assistance would be gratefully received.

This, being the WIN NT forum, leans me to only suggest that himem.sys is a pretty much needed file to boot Win 95 with (realisticly DOS 6.22), so it looks like you might have big problems (lots of missing files?). You should consider reinstalling Win 95. Or better yet a newer OS that is actually usable...

Or ask the question in the Win 9X Forum. :)
