Folks,

I'm running a dedicated system for processing Folding@Home, which takes advantage of SSE on various processors. My low-budget options for dual-proc operating systems are NT and Linux. Since I have NT on hand I thought I would give it a try.

Both processors support the streaming SIMD extensions (SSE) instruction set, as verified by WCPUID, Sandra, etc. However Windows generates an 'illegal system call' error whenever I try to run tFolding@Home or any different SSE-enabled software.

In my research I discovered NT SP1 (which is what I have) has no support for SSE. SP5 was supposed to include a fix for that. Since the SPs are supposed to be cumulative, I installed SP6a. Yet I still cannot get NT to recognize the SSE calls. Does anyone have advice for solving this problem?
