Hi
We have an issue that isn't making sence with our Sony AIT2 Backup tapes using Backup Exec (Not Verites version) and NT4 PDC.

The Tapes are offical Sony AIT2 50GB Native and 130GB Compressed.

Our total server disk space is 24GB (4x 8GB SCSI RAID 5 in 2 Volumes) Drive D: is Data Partition and is 22GB ish compressed volume.

(SONY Tape Drive is on another SCSI Controller from the SCSI HD's)

Daily Backup (M,Tu,W,TH) come to 30GB ish and backs up both Volumes and takes 17 Hours to complete and fits on one tape. Friday backup also backs up a Network folder on another server pushing the total used space to 41GB.

The problem is that Friday backups ask for another Tape at 35GB and takes around 20 Hours to finish.

Backup Exec is told to use Hardware Compression or none is not available.

This seems strange as the tapes are 50GB Native?????

Reading the info on the SONY AIT2 Drives it says "Ultra fast backup 56 GB/h". ours takes 17h +.

Any help on this issue would be great.

Thanks

Tom
