Hi,
I have a system in my network, where I have shared C Drive as hidden ,using the command NET SHARE DRIVEC$=C:\.
After sharing, I could access the system from other system in the same network.
After sometime I am unable to access the hidden share. The hidden share is disabled and hence could not access the drive.
does not know when this happened.
Does anyone have idea why my hidden share got disabled/removed?
Thanks.

C$ is a built-in Admin share. It can only be disabled by editing the Registry. It's been a long time since I did that, so I don't remember what key(s) need to change. It is possible though.

Hi,
Other than the default Admin share (C$,D$),
I have created one more hidden share (DriveC$).Somehow it is getting removed after a while.
Do you have any idea why my newly created hidden share is removed suddenly?
Thanks.

Why create a new one? That's redundant.

I would suspect your drive mapping is not persistant and/or you are losing connection to the share.

You say the share is disabled but I suspect that is from the point of view of the remote workstation.
Did you check on the shared pc that the share was still correct?

You share could be disabled on the remote computer because of wrong account/password issues locking it out.

Hi,

For security reasons, I created my own hidden share and I have removed all the default admin shares.

After creating my own hidden drive share , I am accessing the drive remotely from my PC.I do not change the password also.

Suddenly I could not access the shared drive and I found that the share is removed. This happened to me 3 times.

I really donno when the shared drive got disabled.

Does anyone know if there is any Windows NT logs getting generated when we use NET SHARE command?

Thanks.
