I am one of three students trying to currently set up a network printer for a 'test' organisation. Could somebody please explain in detail the way somebody would go about setting up a laser printer for a global group named "Accounts" so that I can log on under the username 'ACCOUNTS1' and print directally to a word document.
Thanks!

When you use the word "global" it makes me very suspicous that you're working in a Unix environment. If you don't already have NT configured with a Primary Domain Controller and a TCP/IP network, I wonder if there's any sense in going into all the detail.
However, in case that's already been accomplished, you have to choose between using a local printer on one of your clients, or configuring a printer as one of the nodes on your ethernet (a true network device.) If the latter is what you want, see:
http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/article.asp?article=articles%2Farchive%2Fwindowsnt%2Fwnt63%2Fwnt63%2Easp
In brief, you need to install a special protocol for using what's known to NT as an "LPR printer." Once that's been done, you can click on START -> Printers -> Add Printer. Since you're using a Network Interface Card (NIC) in your printer, you will need to assign an IP address to the printer. And if your NT Server uses DHCP, you will need to examine the scope and make sure that it has an exclusion range where you can select a static address for the printer.
Does all of this sound pretty complicated? The best place to learn about network printers is from the user's manual that comes with a printer NIC. AS for the DHCP scope and exclusion range stuff, it sounds the computer science department (or is it engineering) likes to dis the undergraduate students by giving them an assignment which you can't possibly figure out unless you've spent thousands of dollars on software and hardware, OR have already worked in a corporate environment. Typical saddism to be expected of the greedy 6@$~*%#s.
Use the HELP utility to learn about "DHCP Manager" and then about "LPR Printing."

Come on back, if you need more clarification. I've done it, but I'm not sitting at the console of my NT Server machine at the moment, so I'm trying to work from memory. Hope my advice is more help than hindrance.
