Hi,

I am currently using an HP Kayak XM600 (with a 10G HDD and 128MB) Workstation, installed with NT 4.0 SP6. The monitor's resolution was set up as 1024 X 768.

Just yesterday, my colleague changed my wallpaper, to fit to screen. The next moment, the screen went blank and the error message "Attn Out the range H90.9Khz V80.0Hz" appeared. The message would not go off, no matter what. I tried the hard way - switched off the PC. After restarting the PC, the PC was able to boot up, then after the blue screen, the same error message appeared - there was no response even with any key being pressed.

Can anyone advise me on how to reset my wallpaper?? The wallpaper size was about 160KB.

Thanks alot!!

Hi,
Seems to me your graphics card has some trouble generating it all here. This you probably can see also on the first lines of the bleu screen (probably some reference to your card). You might try and start it in save modus (regular VGA), change the monitor settings (lower refreshrate or something) and try again.
Let me know pls.
Good luck,
Martin

You're not mentioning what monitor you have, but it would appear your friend must have changed the refresh rate to something the monitor will not support, so at startup, follow Martin's advice and startup in VGA mode, change resolution to 640x480 & refresh rate 60Hz, this works with most monitors. When you change resolution & refresh rate, make sure to press the "Test" button to make sure new settings are OK.

Sometimes HP PC:s have BIOS settings that affect the monitor's refresh rate. You enter BIOS setup by pressing F2 after power-on. Full docs on HP PC:s are at www.hp.com where you press the diskette image marked "Drivers" at the left margin of the home page.

Good luck!
/Karin

Hi Martin and Karin,

My PC's problem was fixed on 28Feb morning, via the Windows NT 4.0 (VGA mode). The original resolution 1024 x 768 (it's an HP 17" Monitor) and refresh rate were restored.

Thanks alot for sharing your knowledge.

Best regards....Rosalind
